The beauty of Haguenau
I left the airport and set off for Haguenau (pronounced ah'-geh-no: "ah" as in "ah ha!", and "geh" as in "again"). I immediately took a wrong turn leaving the airport. Yes, despite having a voice telling me exactly where to turn.
But it turned out to be a very fortunate mistake because the GPS compensated for my mistake. Instead of taking me on a 30 minute drive on a sterile motorway, I had a 50 minute drive through the countryside and several small villages.
It seems that I am was visiting precisely during the peak of the fall foliage in Alsace. The mountains were almost completely covered in yellow and orange leaves. I cannot remember seeing such spectacular foliage before.
