Stuffed in a Vase

Acrylic on canvas (16"x20")

As the name suggests, this is a figure stuffed into a vase.

I painted this for Kelley.

Armor

Acrylic on canvas (24"x30")

I painted this as a gift for my parents. My dad wanted to get a suit of armor for their house. My mom vetoed the idea. So I thought a painting might be a compromise.

Portrait

Acrylic on canvas board (8"x10")

Another birthday gift. Hopefully the person for whom it was painted will recognize herself.

A Tragedy

Acrylic on canvas board (8"x10")

I painted this while watching coverage of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks against the United States. This painting is much more colorful than it appears.

Leo

Glazed ceramic tile (5¾" x 5½")

I made this mosaic for another friend's birthday. The surface is a piece of cement-like casting medium. The background is made of dark purple tesserae. The symbol is light blue.

Mt. Hood mosaic

Glazed ceramic tile (14"x12")

This is my first mosaic. The surface is a piece of sealed plywood. The completely random tesserae (mosaic pieces) are pieces of tile that I cut with a pair of tile nippers.

Untitled 2

Acrylic on canvas (5"x7")

This is definitely one of my least favorite paintings. But I am including it anyway.

Untitled 1

Acrylic on canvas (11"x14")

My first attempt at something imaginary. My cat would not sit still to pose so it became quite imaginary.

Mt. Hood

Acrylic on canvas (7"x5")

This was a birthday gift for my friend Lindsey. I based it on a photograph I took of the sun rising behind Mt Hood.

Sitting 2

Acrylic on canvas (18"x24")

This either reflects a deeply rooted desire to return to the womb, or it's one of the only positions I could manage to pose in front of a mirror. Actually I was born breached, so this is how I might have looked (sans face).

Sitting

Acrylic on canvas (5"x7")

I felt quite tranquil after about 2 weeks of not turning on my television. This depicts my serenity.

Thinking

Acrylic on canvas (5"x7")

I painted this after a long day at work and school.

Writing

Acrylic on canvas (5"x7")

Another painting based on a picture from the catalog.

Painting

Acrylic on canvas (5"x7")

This painting is based on a picture that was in a catalog I received in the mail. I liked the color and the style, so I thought that I'd try to recreate it.

Fist Bowl

Paint on ceramic bowl (6" approx.)

When my mother came to Portland to visit in early 2001 we went to a place where you could paint your own pottery called Ceramica. I painted a rice bowl with hands on the in and outsides.
